Organized in conjunction with fall jazz and in coordination with the exhibition GIFT FOR THE NATION 250, Kenneth Carroll will present poetry and music inspired by America's original art form-jazz. Drawing inspiration from the parallel developments in American art (social realism, abstract expressionism, pop art, conceptual art) and jazz (swing, bebop, hard pop and fusion), poets, Kenneth Carroll, Brian Gilmore, Laini Mataka, Sasa Aakil, along with Emory Diggs, Bass, and Charles Carlton, guitar, will perform jazz and poetry that reflect a broader understanding of modern and contemporary Art in American society.
