Glad You're Here is partnering with Pulse Barre & Fitness in Duluth, MN to offer up a series of Listening Room style intimate acoustic concerts with the best artists from the Twin Cities and the Twin Ports.

September 6th we have Kelley Smith coming from Aitkin, MN and hometown hero Kyle Orla playing the opening slot. Get ready for a night of intimate acoustic songcraft and exquisite musicianship.

Folksinger/songwriter Kelley Smith is a hopeless romantic who fancies old poetry and grandpa sweaters. All at once whimsical and haunting, Smith delivers deeply affecting lyrics with wry charm and a time traveler's voice. Prone to melancholy and daydreaming, Kelley spent her childhood roaming the woods of Minnesota and singing to forest animals. To this day, her longing for that landscape runs deep and seems to find its way into her songs in one way or another.

Kyle Orla is a folk musician and educator from Duluth, Minnesota. An ever-student of early folk traditions, Kyle threads the needle between old melodies cloaked in relevant aesthetics. His guitar playing is adventurous, unburdened by convention, but deeply marked by the golden age of the 20's-30's repertoire.

Frequently asked questions

Isn't Pulse Barre & Fitness a workout studio?

Normally it is! But we are taking it over the first Saturday of each month starting in August to offer up listening room style concerts. Similar to how the Xcel Energy Center can be used for both Hockey Games (Go Frost!) or for concerts. The space is multipurpose.

Will there be seating?

Yes! We will have chairs for everyone. Tickets are general admission, so where you sit is on a first come first serve basis.

Will there be alcohol?

Nope! but we will have good N/A beer options, along with mocktails, sparkling water, coffee and just good ol' plain H20.

It looks like this is in a strip mall, where do I park?

We have a lot that is open to all of our guests. We simply ask that you park along the building where you can and not in the Bridgemans parking lot.

Are these shows family friendly?

Absolutely! All of the acts have been hand selected to offer up a great experience from anyone ages 1-99.

I've never heard of a listening room before, what does that mean?

You know when your favorite band is playing at a bar and you can't hear them over the sound of everyone talking around you? this is the opposite of that. Listening Rooms are spaces dedicated to simply listening to the music being performed for you. No chit chat to distract you.

Will there be food?

Unfortunately not, but Bridgemans is right across the street if you want to grab a good dinner before the show!

How long will the shows be?

The opening act will perform a 45 minute set, followed by a 15 minute intermission, and then the Main Act will also do a 45 minute set.

Is there a bathroom?

There is 1single occupancy bathroom available.
