About the Free Art School

The Free Art School is a series of creative sessions run by Artist-Led St Helens, where we get together to share the stuff that helps artists actually get by. It’s about learning the behind-the-scenes bits (things like writing proposals, planning events, getting paid, or finding funding) without any jargon or pressure. Led by Claire Weetman and Gee Collins, it’s all based on the idea that everyone’s got something to teach and something to learn.

Where relevant, we will add key learning points from these sessions to the Artist-Led St Helens Wiki page, so that the information is freely available in future.

Keeping evaluation creative

This relaxed session is all about creative evaluation — ways to reflect on your work, learn from it and show others the impact it makes.

We’ll use our Creative Evaluation Chapter in the Artist’s Toolkit as a starting point for a session that helps creatives to gather the information about their work.

We will cover:

What do you want to find out?

Why do you need to know this?

How can that be easy for you and for the participants?

How can you integrate that into your creative practice?
