The Korean Cultural Center to Belgium presents an exclusive selection of 10 distinguished Korean performances in 2025, curated to bring the finest in classical music, jazz, traditional Korean music, and contemporary dance.

Through the recorder, Hojin Kwon moves freely between the depths of early music and the sensibilities of the present, captivating audiences with her delicate resonance.

In this concert, she is joined by harpsichordist Mélanie Flores, and together they offer a dialogue of two instruments that brings forth timeless moments of inspiration.

* Hojin Kwon (recorder)

Hojin Kwon is a recorder player who actively performs across Europe and Asia as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2021, she was awarded the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious MA Competition in Bruges, where her performance was described as "a true fireworks display — emotionally rich and artistically refined". As a founding member of the ensembles Sonorità and Las Lunas, she explores a broad spectrum of historical and contemporary repertoire. After studying at the Korea National University of Arts, she continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, completing her degrees with the highest honors. She currently teaches at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zurich.


* Mélanie Flores (harpsichord)

Mélanie Flores is a Mexican harpsichordist, choral conductor, and educator. In 2022, she was an award winner at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig. She has performed as a soloist and ensemble member at prestigious festivals across Europe and Mexico, including Jeunes Talents in Paris and the Fringe Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. Flores has appeared with the Venice Baroque Orchestra and participated in numerous opera productions. As a member of Sonorità and Las Lunas, she has a long-standing musical partnership with Hojin Kwon. She holds master's degrees in performance and pedagogy from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
