Exposition et visioconférence avec Madame Katalin Karikó : Les routes de l'ARN : De la découverte du messager au prix Nobel de Katalin Karikó
La Faculté de Médicine de l’Université Mohamed V de Rabat en collaboration avec l’Ambassade de Hongrie, vous invite à participer le 2 octobre 2025 à 14H à l’ouverture de l’exposition et à la visioconférence avec Madame Katalin Karikó lauréat du Prix Nobel médico-physiologique.
Madame Katalin Karikó est une scientifique d’exception, mondialement reconnue pour ses travaux pionniers sur l’ARN messager. Elle est une biochimiste et professeure hongrois-américaine issue de l'Université de Szeged, en Hongrie. Née en Hongrie, elle a consacré sa carrière à la recherche biomédicale, ouvrant la voie à une nouvelle ère thérapeutique. Ancienne vice-présidente de BioNTech et auparavant elle avait travaillé à l'Université de Pennsylvanie pendant 24 ans.
Depuis des décennies, ses recherches portent sur les mécanismes médiés par l'ARN, dans le but de développer l'ARNm transcrit in vitro pour la thérapie protéique. Elle a étudié l'activation immunitaire médiée par l'ARN et a co-découvert que les modifications nucléosidiques suppriment la nature inflammatoire de l'ARN, élargissant ainsi le potentiel thérapeutique de l'ARNm.
Ses découvertes ont joué un rôle déterminant dans le développement des vaccins à ARNm (de BioNTech/Pfizer et Moderna) contre la pandémie de Covid-19. Pour ses travaux, elle a partagé le prix Nobel de médico-physiologique en 2023. Cette exposition et visioconférence retrace l’histoire fascinante de l'ARN messager, depuis les découvertes fondamentales en biologie moléculaire jusqu'à ses applications révolutionnaires en médecine moderne.

The Faculty of Medicine of the Mohamed V University of Rabat, in collaboration with the Hungarian Embassy, invites you to participate on October 2nd 2025 at 2 p.m. in the opening of the exhibition and the videoconference with Dr. Katalin Karikó, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology.
Dr. Katalin Karikó is an exceptional scientist, internationally recognized for her pioneering work on messenger RNA. She is a Hungarian-American biochemist and professor from the University of Szeged, Hungary. Born in Hungary, she has dedicated her career to biomedical research, paving the way for a new era of therapeutics. She is a former vice president of BioNTech and previously worked at the University of Pennsylvania for 24 years.
For decades, her research has focused on RNA-mediated mechanisms, with the goal of developing in vitro-transcribed mRNA for protein therapy. She studied RNA-mediated immune activation and co-discovered that nucleoside modifications suppress the inflammatory nature of RNA, thereby expanding the therapeutic potential of mRNA.
Her discoveries were instrumental in the development of mRNA vaccines (from BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna) against the Covid-19 pandemic. For her work, she shared the 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology. This exhibition and videoconference trace the fascinating history of messenger RNA, from fundamental discoveries in molecular biology to its revolutionary applications in modern medicine.
