Join us for this in-person science professional learning offering from the Math & Science Collaborative at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit! The K-12 Science Institute (Course 2) is designed for educators who have already attended one of our Introductory Science Institutes (e.g., Elementary Science, K-2 STEM Institute, Grades 3-5 Science Institute, Secondary Science, Physical Science Institute, Life Science Institute). This professional learning opportunity is perfect for all K-12 science educators who are ready to dig deeply into the classroom culture, pedagogical practices, and assessment practices aligned to science teaching and learning with the PA STEELS standards. Don't miss out on this free opportunity to learn more about teaching science for the next generation. Mark your calendars and get ready for the K-12 Science Institute (Course 2)!

Who: Any K-12 science educators who previously attended one of the Introductory Science Institutes from AIU MSC (e.g., Elementary Science, K-2 STEM Institute, Grades 3-5 Science Institute, Secondary Science, Physical Science Institute, Life Science Institute)

When: December 2, and December 15, 2025, January 20, 2026 and with an optional fourth date on March 12, 2026 at a location to be determined

Where: In-person at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for days 1-3; Location TBD for optional day 4

Price: Free to all AIU3 educators; Educators outside AIU3: $450

Administrators are encouraged to attend with the teacher(s) from their district/building.

Act 48 hours will be awarded pending approval by PDE for those who attend all sessions and complete all related assignments.

The Math & Science Collaborative is an AIU program that brings innovative and effective approaches to build a cohesive K-12 STEM curriculum that meets the rigor of the PA Core. Through our contracted training services, we help educators across Allegheny County and surrounding regions implement high leverage practices in the classroom to prepare students for tomorrow's careers. We also provide mathematics and science curriculum audits and alignment services. We provide professional development in effective pedagogical practices that engage all students in rigorous STEM learning through developing teacher leadership, implementing professional learning communities, utilizing lesson study, and customized support in content and pedagogical content knowledge.
