Wayzata Yacht Club is a Sailboat RACING club...except for ONE day a year...June 7, 2025

"JUST TRY IT"! This is our ONLY event open to anyone who wants to get out on a sailboat to dip your toes into this new sport!

Guests will have an opportunity to:

* Learn a few practical sailing basic in a "hands-on" cruising atmosphere, without a classroom or lecture setting

* Hoist and trim sails (at the Skipper's discretion)

* Be at the helm of the boat (at the Skipper's discretion)

* Help set the pace based on their comfort level and the Skipper's discretion.

YOU MUST RSVP and SIGN A LIABLITY WAIVER when you arrive that day.

Frequently asked questions

Is it rain or shine?

Yes! Sailors are a hearty stock, but of course we won't go out if dangerous storms or winds on the forecast. However, still come to learn more about Wayzata Yacht Club, meet great folks, share some snacks and find out additional ways to get out for endless racing opportunities this summer.

What should I wear?

Dress for the weather, shell jacket for wind or sprinkles, grippy shoes (not dark soled). If you have a life jacket, great...bring it. If not, no worries. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated.

Will there be food and drinks?

We will have a variety of bags of snacks, as well as fountain beverages and water on shore before you head out on the boats after the brief welcome program.
