Junk Journaling craft workshop in Montgomery County, Md.
Overview
Here’s why we (and lots of other people, it seems) love junk journaling:
- It’s a great way to preserve memories, from the big milestones to the everyday moments.
- It’s a low-pressure, low-cost way to get creative, try new techniques and use fun craft supplies. (Time to stop hoarding the “good” stickers!)
- It can be solitary or social, depending on how you like to craft.
Sound good? Then make 2026 the year you start a junk journal, and let us help. This casual, creative workshop is for both brand-new journalers and longtime journal junkies, so no matter where you are in your journaling journey, we hope you’ll join us.
This workshop includes:
- A journal (if you want one)! We’ll provide a black, hardcover journal with blank pages. If you prefer to bring your own, that’s fine with us — you’ll pay a lower ticket price. If you’re brand-new, you can decorate your cover and start working on spreads inside. If you’re a seasoned journaler, you do you.
- A kit to take home with a few of our favorite journaling materials to use throughout the year.
- A buffet of craft supplies, including paper, stickers, washi tape, ephemera and much, much more. We’ll also have adhesives, scissors, pens, etc. And of course, BYOJ (Bring Your Own Junk).
- Two prints from our instant photo printer, if you’d like. You’ll send us photos and we’ll print on the spot.
- Prompts and ideas to get you started, including some January-appropriate spread themes. We’ll also share ideas for “junk” to collect so you’ll always have material for your journal.
You’re also welcome to bring supplies to share, though of course that’s not required.
Psst ... We plan to host regular, low-cost junk journaling meetups throughout the year, so if you need motivation to work on your spreads once you’ve started, keep an eye out for those.
This workshop is open to crafters ages 11 to adult. We’ve shared junk journaling with lots of tweens and teens, and they’ve loved it. So bring your crafty (older) kid along.
