June 19th is WORLD SICKLE CELL DISEASE DAY! To mark the occasion, SCANJ is partnering with The Source of Knowledge Bookstore for their Annual Juneteenth Block Party, Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 10:00am-6:00pm at 867 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey. The party starts on Treat Place, the street behind the bookstore. Activities include Book talks, free book giveaways, a Drum Circle, Face painting, DJ & dancing, Juneteenth games with prizes, and Food trucks.
The Sickle Cellabration presentation is from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm. Participants can enjoy this “world-themed” festival of fun and learning presentation on current services for sickle cell disease. We will announce academic scholarships for students with sickle cell disease. In keeping with the theme, the food trucks will include international cuisine. All activities are free, however, you must register by June 18th via eventbrite for special perks for participating in “A Sickle Cellabration.”
