Juneteenth Anchorage HBCU Band Camp and Directors Retreat

in partnership with Junteenth Anchorage, DDubbs Foundation with support from Dr. Ethledra Davis Fairview Elementary, Con Selmer and band directors from Alabama A & M, Southern University and more (names to be unvieled soon)

Welcome to the Juneteenth Anchorage HBCU Band Camp and Directors Retreat! Join us for a fun-filled in-person event at the historic Dr. Etheldra Davis Fairview Elementary located in the beautiful Anchorage Alaska (home of Alaska' FIRST black Principal and champion for all things black alaskan culture). This event features two different tracks and is perfect for

• instrument players
• band directors
• hbcu dance directors
• HBCU recruiters seeking music majors
• industry supporters of bands such as instrument suppliers, educators and more
• HBCU and black history/culture enthusiats who want to experience Alaska

Track 1: HBCU band directors, recruiters, industry supports and other black history/culture enthusiasts who want to experience the beauty and culture of Alaska. This itenrary will feature networking and business opporuntities mixed with exploring our state and supporting camp in a number of roles ( roles and goals will be determined in advance)

Retreat fees include: networking, business and community partnership/business opportunties, ground transportation, Alaskan tourism excursions, 2 meals per day while in Alaska, press opportunities, option to particpant in/advertise at camp, advertising/networking/outreach at Juneteenth Anchorage lodging for 6 days and optional airfare on Alaska Airlines or Delta Airlines.

Total package will not exceed $3000 for attendees who are having us cover ALL mentioned retreat fees above*********************** (price will vary with you orgin city, travel dates and specific goals and a customized schedule and invoice will be provided in advance). The deposit to hold your spot and lock in your rate is $250 with your first payment beind due on September 1, 2025.

Track 2: HBCU band camp for youth and young adults who play band instruments and or dance/baton. Camp attendees will learn about HBCUs, HBCU band culture, marching, teamwork, leadership, educational resoruces, other post secondary resources, and 3 songs to perform in an electrifying performance at Juneteenth in Anchorage, Juneteenth Fairbanks, and Juneteenth MATSU. Prices include camp fees, instruction, uniform, lunch and more!

Early bird camp price is $75 per attendee ( prices will increase to $100 effective 10/1/25) if traveling from out of town and housing and ground transportation is needed to and from camp and all official camp events that price is $75-$100 per night depending on room and family size (this is extremely low and beyond reasonable for tourism season in Alaska)

Lodging will be in one of our camp owned Air B & Bs or partnering sponsor hotel.
