Who can participate in the Math Challenge?

Any Pre-K to 8th-grade student in Little Elm ISD, Little Elm residents, including homeschoolers and charter school students, can participate for free.

Do I need to RSVP to attend the event?

Yes, RSVP by claiming your free ticket here. Your ticket serves as your RSVP and helps us prepare for the event. While walk-ins are welcome, RSVPs are encouraged to ensure we have enough supplies and activities for everyone.

What activities are available for attendees?

Build Lego hearts for LEGO’s Build to Give initiative.
Watch the Unicorn Jumpers perform (ticket required) and join a free Double Dutch lesson.
Mathletes get souvenir lanyards and $15 carnival bucks.
Meet local leaders cheering on the Mathletes.

Yes, the event is free to attend, and most activities, including Lego heart-building and the Double Dutch lesson, are free. The only ticket required is for the Double Dutch performance. Math Challenge registration is also free for eligible students.

What are the $15 bonus carnival bucks?

Mathletes who attend the event will receive $15 in bonus carnival bucks! These can be used at the Math Carnival on Pi Day, March 14, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at The Rec Center.

During the Math Challenge (January 13 - March 13, 2025), you’ll also earn 1 carnival buck for each minute of practice

Can parents or guardians participate?

Accepted Answer

Yes, parents and guardians are welcome to join the fun! They can cheer on the Mathletes, help build Lego hearts, and even participate in the activities. Don’t forget to bring Lego bricks to donate and support the cause!

What is the LEGO “Build to Give” initiative?

Accepted Answer

The LEGO “Build to Give” initiative encourages creativity and giving back. For every Lego heart built at the event, LEGO will donate a set to a child in need. Learn more about this amazing initiative at LEGO Build to Give.

Is there a dress code for volunteers or attendees?

Accepted Answer

Volunteers are encouraged to wear their favorite college t-shirt or hoodie with jeans. Attendees should dress comfortably for the activities.

How long does the event last?

The event runs from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and is a come-and-go event, so you can drop by anytime during those hours to join the fun!

Can I register for the Math Challenge at the event?

Yes! You can register in person at the event to join the Math Challenge, which runs from January 13 to March 13, 2025.  You can also register online https://bit.ly/4thannualmathchallenge
