Composer Julie Maniscalco looks to pay homage to her Staten Island roots in her latest work, the“Outer Borough Project”, which features all original music with afro latin, hip hop & contemporary jazz influences inspired by NYC’s forgotten borough.This event also marks the premiere of her large ensemble, which debuted in its virtual performance“Terroir: Music for Jazz Orchestra”in July 2021.
This performance is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.This work was developed in part during a 2024-25 PASS residency at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor.
