Judy Walgren is a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and co-author of Critical Photojournalism: Contemporary Ethics and Practices (with Tara Pixley). She is chair of the Photography Department at Foothill College in the Bay Area, where she has revitalized the program, including the reopening of its darkroom. Over her decades-long career, Walgren has worked as a staff photojournalist, photo editor, and director of photography at major news organizations in Dallas, Denver, and San Francisco. Before joining Foothill, she served as associate director of the Michigan State University School of Journalism, where she also revitalized the visual journalism curriculum.
Ann Jastrab is the Executive Director of the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California, an organization dedicated to advancing photography through education, exhibitions, and publications. Building on the legacy of CPA’s predecessor—the renowned Friends of Photography, founded in 1967—CPA honors West Coast traditions of craft, mentorship, and dedication to the photographic arts while remaining at the forefront of contemporary image-making.
