What Is Junior Engineering Forge Camp?
What’s better than solving a problem? Engineering the solution yourself. Junior Engineering Forge Camp is where young builders explore mechanical design, prototyping, and hands-on challenges in a highly creative, supportive environment.
Across this thrilling week, campers tackle new design quests each day — bridges, launchers, vehicles, structures, and more — learning real engineering concepts while building things they’re proud to show off.
Camp Highlights
Mechanical Design Fundamentals
Campers learn how and why things stay standing, roll smoothly, or launch accurately:
- Stability, center of gravity, force, and load distribution
- How shapes and materials affect strength
- Designing for durability versus speed or height
Prototyping & Construction
Students bring ideas to life using accessible materials and tools:
- Build and test towers, bridges, vehicles, launchers, and contraptions
- Use age-appropriate tools with clear safety guidance
- Learn to iterate: build → test → improve → test again
Real-World Problem Solving
Daily “Forge Quests” challenge campers to think like engineers:
- Design a structure that holds the most weight
- Create a vehicle that travels the farthest or straightest
- Engineer a device that can launch or transport objects precisely
Collaboration & Design Thinking
Campers work both individually and in teams, sharing ideas and learning to give and receive constructive feedback — just like real engineering teams.
