About this event

Arts • Orchestra

About Joshua Roman: Joshua Roman, an Arnhold Creative Associate at Juilliard, is a cello soloist and composer, hailed for his “effortlessly expressive tone… and playful zest for exploration” (New York Times), as well as his “extraordinary technical and musical gifts” (San Francisco Chronicle). His genre-bending programs and wide-ranging collaborations reflect an “enthusiasm for musical evolution that is as contagious as his love for the classics” (Seattle Times). Joshua has lived with Long COVID for more than three years and is a patient at Mount Sinai’s Long COVID clinic. Read the New York Times article on his experience here.

About Immunity:Immunity is an intimate musical exploration of Joshua’s ongoing Long COVID journey. The program combines performance and storytelling — moving through doubt, struggle, refocus, and renewal — with music ranging from J.S. Bach to Caroline Shaw to Roman’s own compositions. It exemplifies bridge-building between the arts and health, while adapting to each audience's needs and keeping the core storytelling, music, and message of hope consistent.
