Joke House Improv Workshop Level 1

Welcome to the Joke House Improv Workshop Level 1! Get ready to unleash your inner comedian and learn the basics of improv comedy in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you're a seasoned performer or a complete beginner, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to improve their comedy and improv skills.

Workshop Topics include:

• Basic concepts of comedy and joke structure
• Improv concepts of "Yes,and" , "If this, then what?" , and "add,new"
• Being in the moment
• Getting out of your head and into the scene
• Active Listening
• Story Telling
• Creating memorable characters
• Space work and interacting with your environment
• Basic Scene Work

The Joke House Improv Workshop Level 1 takes place over the course of 8 weeks and a showcase on week 9. We meet once a week on wednesday from 6:00pm - 8:30pm over at the event space at Midway BBQ in Katy TX. So come out and join us for laughter and creativity as we all explore the world of comedic improv together. No experience or prerequisite required, just bring your humor and open mind to try something new and make new friends!

Comedy Instuctor - Jace Ceyanes

Jace Ceyanes is a professional comedian/actor that has performed all over the country. His training actually starts right here Katy Texas! Where he attended Katy High School and was a part of the theater program and the Comedy Sportz Highschool League Team. After graduating High School he moved to Los Angeles Califorina and obtained a BFA in acting from Hussian College Los Angeles. This then lead him to train with the Ammerican Immersion Theatre Company, Comedy Sportz LA, Groundlings, and many others various mentors in the industry. Now he contuines pass on what he has learned to other creatives in the industry.

Jace Ceyanes has gone to win various awards for his comedic performances such as; 1st place in the improv contest duo duel, pick of the fringe in the hollywood fringe festival, and has been a finalist in many other comedy contest like the U.S Comedy Contest.

He continues to travel and perform comedy all over the U.S from small private shows, to ballroms, casinos, and theaters with hundreds in attendance.

Jace Ceyanes is excited to be back in his hometown to contuine to build his own thing right here in Katy Texas. Everyday he takes one step closer to helping his hometown become another hub for comedy entertainment.

Code of conduct / Liability

All students must fill out a general liability form after the orientation that will take place on the first day of the workshop. The orientation will be to go over the expectations and code of conduct to ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone in attendance. We do not offer refunds for the workshop or prorate for any missed classes. The showcase on July 30th is also not a mandatory part of the workshop but is highly encouraged to show off your new skills.
