Joao Leao presents Celestial - album release

Celestial is a groundbreaking bossa nova recording that draws from João Leão’s signature style of Brazilian fusion. Recorded over three continents – in Lisbon, Toronto and São Paulo, – the album takes one of Brazil’s most iconic music in new directions.

“I wanted to revere the legacy of the great composers of bossa nova, but at the same time expand the genre’s possibilities,” explains Leão. “The idea is to pursue the beauty, smoothness, and cool of bossa taking in other contexts, like neo-soul, R&B, and global folk sounds.”
