Jest Improv is proud to present it's very own Playwriting program! This program is open to all skill levels, so whether you already have a portfolio or you've never written a short play before, this program is for you!
This course will be an introduction to the Jest Improv philosophy on playwriting, specifically storytelling. You will get the opportunity to learn techniques on character development, dialogue, and scene structure. You will get notes back from your instructor to help you craft a well polished short play. You will write in class and also turn in pages for notes and you will learn how to re-write. You will read one acts and pitch them to the instructor along with the class and we will all work together to make each of the short plays amazing and polished.Students will leave the class with a better understanding of the short play format formats along with a great foundation for their portfolio. This course will take place at the Bunker Theater in Ventura (2750 East Main Street Unit B2). This will be an 7-week course running on Sunday nights from 12 - 2:30 pm from September 7th to October 19th.
