Step into the 18th century and sip your way through Italy as Thomas Jefferson once did. Join us for an elegant evening and tasting of Williamsburg Winery's newest wine collection, "Jefferson's Journey". These wines are our first joint collaboration between Williamsburg and our sister winery, Sassaia in Piemonte, Italy. They were curated and hand-selected by our CEO, Michael Weatherly, and Sassaia CEO, Enrico Alessandrini, on a few of Michael's most recent trips to the Piemonte region. The wine tasting includes four wines and a light Mediterranean paired snack, inspired by Jefferson's grand tour.
As America's most wine-enthusiastic founding father, Jefferson traveled through Italy for three weeks with a keen interest in engineering, architecture, and viticulture, sampling the regional varietals and noting the techniques that would influence his vision for American wine. During this event, we will celebrate the first release with our sister winery in Italy, and you will be the first to taste each of these four new Williamsburg Winery / Sassaia wines.
Between sips and bites, immerse yourself in storytelling and historical insights told by Enrico and Michael, highlighting Jefferson's travels and their initial spark for this spectacular series that has officially brought the two wineries together.
