Jeff Libman with Max Morton and Charlie Brown
Overview
Musically, Jeff's highest aspirations were always to be a singer-songwriter busking on the streets, which is where you’ll most likely find him performing today in Chicago or Evanston, Illinois as well as the streets of Málaga, Spain. His days of performing with his bands Check With Lucy or The Jujus are mostly in the past. He prefers the intimacy, connectivity and serendipity of performing on the street by himself or with his Málaga band The Zulies. Max showed up in Jeff's garage one afternoon wanting to play guitar several years ago, and Jeff invited Charlie to sit in on a busking gig with him in Evanston last summer. Generations X, Y, and Z come together tonight to perform their music on one stage.
Max Morton displays soft guitar lines and introspective lyrics garnering comparison to the likes of Nick Drake, Gregory Alan Isakov and Caamp. His debut single “Hold On” was released in April of 2022 and was featured on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds Folk” playlist alongside upcoming artists such as Searows and Sadurn. In January of 2023, Morton released his debut EP. In June of 2024, Max released a six-song EP titled 'simple, time' and is excited to be making his Uncommon Ground debut.
Charlie Brown loves finding avenues of self-expression through movement and visual arts and is excited to be exploring music adding cajon and harmonica to the original music of Jeff and Max.
