Jazz Session No.6: 'Syncopated Sunday' with Anderson Jazz Trio
Overview
Blackbird Productions in collaboration with Georgia Straight Jazz Society and 40 Knots Winery presents Jazz Session No.6: 'Syncopated Sunday'
The Anderson Jazz Trio brings their signature sound to the stage with a swinging small-combo style. Their guitar, stand-up bass, and drum lineup creates ample space for interplay, spontaneity, and creative exploration.
Drummer Aaron Amar draws on extensive jazz experience built through years of performing with a wide range of ensembles. Known for his tasteful layering of polyrhythms and dynamic sensitivity, Aaron has also studied in New York under acclaimed jazz drummer and educator Ari Hoenig.
Bassist John Hyde is a highly respected figure in the jazz community. Now based on Vancouver Island after a distinguished career in jazz performance and education at Mount Royal University in Calgary, John has recorded and toured internationally. His deep sense of swing and lyrical, expressive soloing bring vibrant energy to the trio’s music.
Guitarist Doug Anderson has collaborated with Amar and Hyde for many years. Influenced by players such as Peter Bernstein, Doug shapes each tune with warm melodic lines, thoughtful harmonic touches, and a responsive rapport with his long-standing bandmates.
