Jazz at The Earl: Jeff Walton Quartet X Devin Daniels

Jazz at The Earl: Jeff Walton Quartet X Devin Daniels

By Jeff Walton

Overview

Alto saxophonist + composer Devin Daniels joins us for the 3rd concert of Jazz At The Earl - voted LA’s “Best Small Venue”!

Be part of this new concert series, Jazz at The Earl: "It feels like the old Jazz Gallery on Hudson St. in New York!"

Alto saxophonist Devin Daniels stands out as one of the most unique and versatile voices to emerge from LA’s rapidly evolving creative music landscape. The Inglewood (CA) native has the unique ability to fit into any musical situation without sacrificing the integrity of his individual voice. That, combined with his warm and thoughtful personality, is why Daniels has been invited to perform with bands led by Gerald Clayton, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, John Beasley, Sam Barsh and Jamael Dean.

In 2023, the great Herbie Hancock invited Devin to join him alongside jazz legends Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, Terence Blanchard, Chris Potter and LA-royalty, Kamasi Washington in a performance at the Hollywood Bowl honoring the late iconic saxophonist, Wayne Shorter. Following this performance, Hancock invited Daniels to join his band again, this time for a month-long US tour in the Spring of 2024.

Known as a creative playground for visual arts, comedy, literature, and classical music, The Earl is thrilled to feature Nicole at the launch of "Jazz At The Earl," a new jazz series in partnership with saxophonist and composer Jeff Walton.

Fresh off the success of their album release show at The Earl, the Jeff Walton Quartet will be in residency each month - joined by a guest artist who brings their unique voice and compositions to the bandstand. Past guest artists include Nicole McCabe and Jon Hatamiya.

Come to enjoy the music, sip on a drink, and support a new scene in LA! You might enjoy it as much as Teresa:

"It was so much fun to hear Jeff and his band play! The way they reinterpreted the songs on the record to fit the live atmosphere made it feel like a wholly unique experience for the audience. Excited to check out a future performance!"
