Join us for the next Jared L. Cohon Student Seminar, featuring David Florez Rodriguez, a Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University researching sustainable energy systems and power grid optimization.

David will present his research, “We want more (and better) transmission for reliable electricity,” exploring how buried high-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines may offer a promising solution for expanding grid capacity and improving reliability as renewable energy demand grows.

About the speaker:
Originally from Colombia, David holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he focused on energy and optimization. His current work examines the role of transmission technologies and infrastructure planning in advancing decarbonization and energy equity.

Free lunch provided. All CMU students, faculty, and staff are welcome.

*This is an in-person only event, held in Bosch Spark Conference Room.
