January Jumpstart!
Overview
Back by popular demand it’s January Jumpstart 2026! If you’ve resolved to prioritize your writing in the new year, then this is the class for you. January Jumpstart is an hour-and-a-half generative workshop, where participants will be guided through a series of prompts aimed at freeing the subconscious and letting their pen run wild. You’ll leave with potential new stories, poems, essays, and friends! We’ll have all new prompts for the new year, but the same good vibes.
The Minibar will be open for a happy (half) hour prior to the workshop, and we’ll be sure to leave time for participants to share their work. Included in your tuition is a composition notebook full of blank pages eager to accept your genius. No previous writing experience is required.
The class will be taught by Bookends University Programming Director, Jeremy T. Wilson
Jeremy T. Wilson is the author of the novel The Quail Who Wears the Shirt and the short story collection Adult Teeth. Since earning his MFA from Northwestern University in 2011, he has taught creative writing for multiple organizations in and around Chicago. He is a former winner of The Chicago Tribune's Nelson Algren Award for short fiction and his work has appeared in literary magazines including The Carolina Quarterly, The Florida Review, Jet Fuel Review, The Masters Review, Sonora Review, Third Coast, The Best Small Fictions 2020, and other publications.
