Event description
Join us on Wednesday, January 26th as we welcome Lea Scudamore as our first speaker of 2022, discussing SEO for digital accessibility.

About this event

This topic is the real-world impact of inaccessible channels and content. The audience will take away content accessibility tips, learn how they are losing revenue, and look their lawsuit vulnerability in the face.

Accessibility is Crucial

While in-house and agency teams often find themselves trying to justify the costs associated with SEO services, accessibility lawsuits could be creeping upon them. Simple things like a link to the home page from a landing page are great for funnel reporting, and against web accessibility guidelines which are the guidelines utilized by the ADA. SEO with web accessibility helps by ensuring your brand’s online and internal resources – including website, landing pages, PDFs, apps, tools, and technologies – are designed and developed to work for people with differing abilities.

Brands need to get serious about Accessibility for Everyone. Accessibility relates to user experience, usability, and user-centered design. It focuses on people with disabilities but greatly benefits people without disabilities. Digital Accessibility bridges issues beyond physical disability such as geographic location, socioeconomic status, education, language, age, gender, and more.

Beyond the areas Accessibility wraps its arms around, US Census data estimates 1 in 5 - or 64 million - people in the U.S. have a disability. 28 million have an ability that affects the way they use the web, apps, and tools. Furthermore, the American Institutes For Research estimated the spending power of people with disabilities to be $490 billion in disposable income for workers aged 16 to 64. So if helping 1 in 5 people doesn’t spur your brand along, the potential revenue gains should!
