About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Democracy is at stake.

On the morning of November 4th, 2020, President Donald Trump declared victory in the United States presidential election. What happened next were arguably the two most important months in American history.

JANUARY 6TH follows Vice President Mike Pence as he struggles with who to certify the election for – and whether to certify it at all. As pressure mounts on him from all sides, he dissects the allegations, confronts his faith, and goes toe-to-toe with his friend the president.

Watch as the headlines come to life – the resignation of Attorney General Bill Barr, the president’s attempt to install a loyalist in his place, and the Eastman memos – all culminating in the joint session of Congress on January 6th.

Inspired by Orson Welles’ 1937 production Caesar and the staged reading Gatz, JANUARY 6TH reimagines Shakespeare’s political tragedy for the 21st century, in which a leader’s decrees become tweets and the Capitol once again becomes a place for bloodshed.

Be there, will be wild!
