Celebrate the beauty of connection and the strength of community through an afternoon of storytelling and sisterhood with A Step Ahead Foundation.
Jaja’s African Hair Braiding is a lively and heartfelt play written by Jocelyn Bioh, presented by Hattiloo Theatre. Inside a busy hair salon, a group of West African immigrant women spend one sweltering summer day creating intricate styles, sharing laughter, and navigating the twists and turns of love and ambition. This powerful story shines a light on the courage it takes to build a life in a place that doesn’t always feel like home.
We are proud to dedicate this special event in memory of Gene Katz, a lifelong advocate for the arts and a beloved supporter of A Step Ahead Foundation. Gene’s passion, generosity, and belief in the transformative power of community continue to inspire us, and we’re honored to celebrate his legacy through this gathering.
