About the Teacher

Dmitri Shapira is a core faculty member of the Iyengar Institute of New York. He has been teaching for twenty years and has made multiple trips to India to study under B.K.S. Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar yoga, and other members of the Iyengar family. He was first drawn to yoga for its physical benefits, but stayed for its ability to steady the mind in uncertain times. He is also an accomplished musician.

Dharma Treasure Retreat Center is an awe-inspiring natural sanctuary for people pursuing spiritual development and awakening through personal or group retreats. Located in a valley of the Dragoon Mountains near Tucson, Arizona, the center includes many amenities, including a number of friendly chickens.
