About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Hiking

Join us for a fascinating walking tour of Manchester which highlights the stories of women who are hidden in the footnotes of the city’s history. The walk promises tales of murder, riots, medicine and mystery... revealing the lives of ordinary Manchester women over the centuries.

The tour will be guided by the very knowlegable Philippa Vishnyakov, who has been a qualified Green Badge Guide for Manchester since 2009 and has a particular interest in the stories of women in the city’s history.

In addition to hearing the stories of Manchester women of the past, this will be a great opportunity to network with some of the North West's current women, whilst enjoying some time outdoors.

Meeting point is outside Chetham’s Library Entrance, Long Millgate (Cathedral Gardens, not far from the National Football Museum) at 9am for a prompt 9.15am start. The tour will last 75 minutes.

A note of warning: This walk covers some sensitive subjects including stories of maternal and baby loss, and of violence against and by women.
