Data Intelligence and ML in Virtual Power Plants by Norman Spangenberg team lead @ Urban Energy

Norman's professional path led him to urban energy GmbH a few years ago, where he was able to live out his enthusiasm for data analysis and artificial intelligence. For several years now, he has been actively involved there in optimizing processes and decisions through the use of cutting-edge data and AI systems in the energy sector. Norman holds a PhD in Business Informatics from the University of Leipzig. His passion for the intersection of business and information technology led him to various research and innovation projects in the energy sector. He has built a reputation as an expert in using advanced technologies to increase process efficiency and make informed decisions in the dynamic energy sector. His work continues to inspire and innovate, making an important contribution to the advancement of data-driven strategies in the energy sector.

In the course of the energy transition towards the massive use of renewable energies, we need methods to create grid stability. In the project, our goal is to jointly set up a virtual power plant based on hydropower plants in order to operate with it on the primary control reserve market. An essential building block for this is the use of data, forecasting models andoptimization algorithms to achieve high efficiency. This talk gives an overview of the use case, as well as the data and methods within the VPP control system

Solutions for Predictive Maintenance based on AWS by Volodymyr Andrushchak data Science team lead @ Lemberg Solutions

Dr. Volodymyr Andrushchak, Data Science Team Lead at Lemberg Solutions. As an engineer, he worked in the direction of data processing and analysis, mathematical modeling, and sensor fusion. As a Team Lead, he is responsible for the delivery of all data science projects in the team, technical processes starting from data collection and ending report preparation, team training, and scaling.

This presentation shows two solutions based on AWS for solving predictive maintenance tasks. We will compare two different approaches - AWS Lookout for equipment with a solution from scratch based on deep learning. The estimation of the accuracy and performance of these two approaches is showcased on prediction problems in wind turbines.
