IOMEID Introduction - New cattle traceability system - Session 2
Overview
The Isle of Man is adopting a new computer system for tracking cattle movements which has been developed by ScotEID, a livestock traceability platform originally developed in Scotland. This move will come into effect in early 2026 and will replace the current BITSystem. It aims to improve the accuracy and efficiency of livestock movement reporting, enhance disease control and ensure compliance with legislative requirements. We hope the new system will be more user friendly and integrate with other electronic management systems keepers might already be using. Please note this is not the introduction of compulsory bovine electronic ear tags or the removal for the requirement of paper passports.
We will be running two sessions on Friday 5th December 2025, 11am-12.30pm and 2pm-3.30pm at St Johns Football club. You must rsvp for one session so we can monitor numbers and accommodate everyone. Attendance to one of these sessions is strongly advised to ensure everyone is prepared ahead of the switch over from BITS to IOMEID next year.
The sessions will include an overview to the system and is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. More in-depth training sessions will take place early next year as and when required to help with the transition.
Location: St Johns Football Club, Foxdale Road, St. Johns, IM4 3AR.
