About this event

Other

The ALC Advanced Club cordially invites YOU to watch or compete in a debate on the topic of "Godzilla (vs. King Kong) Would Win". Earn educational credit, too! This is a special invitation for Divisions C & D (and reinvite for Divisions E & F) and their guests to actively participate in the mock evaluation contest and themed debate.

Which Titan would reign supreme in a fight? Some say Godzilla, with his special attacks and defenses, would win. Others say King Kong, with his intelligence and agility, would win. The debate primarily stems from the fact that both characters have compelling arguments and different approaches to combat.

Pro: Godzilla Would Win.

Con: Kong Would Win.

Which side do YOU fall on?

Teams will be randomly assigned the day of the competition; however, feel free to pick your preferred side of pro/con and teammate when registering.

The steps are simple:

1) Register (do so individually - teams randomly assigned day of the debate)

2) Argue a side (4-minute prepared speech)

3) Respond to opposing team questions (up to 2 questions per debater)

4) Give a rebuttal/summary (1-minute)

5) Evaluate teammate (after completing debate speeches)

The top-scoring team will be eligible to compete in the District 36-wide debate competition to be held in December 2025 or January 2026.

However, every participant is a winner and will earn one speech and one evaluation credit to make progress along your Pathways journey.
