Invasive Mapping in the Alewife

By Green Cambridge

Overview

Come join Green Cambridge in Mapping invasive plant species in the Alewife to support future removal!

Please join Green Cambridge for a fun time outdoors while making a difference in your local environment!

Saturday November 22nd from 11 AM - 2 PM at nearby DCR Parking lot at 2-8 Acorn Park Dr, Cambridge, MA 02140.

Rain Date: Sunday November 23rd from 11 AM - 2 PM

We will be instructing volunteers on how to record and map invasive plant populations in the Alewife using the Invasive Flora Patrol created by EarthWiseAware through the Anecdata app.

We also go over plant identification for select invasive species found in the Alewife and instructions on how to use the PictureThis plant identification app

Invasive plant species are extremely prevalent in the Alewife and outcompete native biodiversity, thus disrupting many vital ecological systems within the Alewife. These events not only help spread awareness on this issue but also provide the foundation of future invasive plant removal efforts that will be replaced by selected native plants to help restore the ecosystem.

Come join us and learn about invasive plant species and what you can do to combat them today!
