Introduction to Zen Meditation 2PM in Person only
Overview
This is an in-person event.
We welcome everyone at every service. We will provide meditation instructions at the beginning of each service, and an attendant will provide guidance for the simple rituals involved in a Zen service.
However, if you would like a little more information and guidance, the introductory services may be better for you. During these services we offer a short introduction to Zen history and philosophy, in-depth instruction for Zazen (Zen meditation), and an explanation of temple etiquette.
The Zen Buddhist Temple of Chicago was founded in 1949 by Soyu Matsuoka Roshi. Originally located on Halsted Street on the north side of Chicago, the Temple moved to its current location in the 1980s. We also share space with the Chinese Cultural Academy which offers classes in Tai Chi Chuan.
