Ever wanted to try your hand at woodturning? This beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start! Learn the fundamentals of using a wood lathe safely and confidently by making your own bowl or box.

Our instructor will guide you through using traditional tools, basic techniques, safety practices, and how to shape, smooth, and finish your piece. You’ll gain hands-on experience while creating a simple turned item—such as a small bowl, box, or vase—to take home at the end of class.

No prior experience needed—all tools and materials are provided. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to make some shavings!

Make sure to bring something to tie your hair back with if it is long. Age 18+ only.

Kim loves all things woodworking, but wood turning is what she is most experienced in- or where she started. After taking a short introductory class at a Woodcraft store, she decided to delve deeper into the art by taking a 6-week course at Pratt School of Fine Arts in Seattle, WA. Over the last 4 years since then, she has dabbled in making all kinds of things including bowls, boxes, pens, and hollow forms. She hopes to branch out further into other types of turning, and is always excited to show others what is possible on the lathe.
