The Montgomery County Commission for Women (CFW) is proud to announce a series of free, in-person introductory women’s self-defense classes this fall. These two-hour sessions are designed to provide participants with practical tools to increase awareness, reduce risk, and respond effectively in unsafe situations.
Led by an experienced instructor, the course covers:
- Recognizing and avoiding potentially dangerous situations
- Verbal strategies and assertiveness techniques
- Basic physical defense skills, including strikes and escapes
- Building confidence to take control in threatening scenarios

- Monday, October 20 | 7:00–9:00 p.m. – Wheaton Regional Library (11701 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD)
- Monday, November 17 | 7:00–9:00 p.m. – Gaithersburg Regional Library (18330 Montgomery Village Ave., Gaithersburg, MD)
- Monday, December 8 | 7:00–9:00 p.m. – Connie Morella Library (7400 Arlington Rd., Bethesda, MD)
Classes are free, but registration is required.
Please note: This self-defense class is open to women only. Participants must be at least 13 years old. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
