In this intensive 4-hour workshop for adults, you will learn the basics of using a tufting machine and complete a small rug.
The workshop is free, but participants are required to bring their own yarn (two skeins of yarn per color). Yarn should be a medium weight (4) and feed from the center.
All participants are required to satisfactorily complete a safety screening checklist and sign a liability waiver before participating.
This intensive 4-hour workshop involves using a handheld power tool with sharp, fast-moving scissors and a needle. If you have, or are recovering from, a hand, wrist, arm, shoulder, or joint injury or condition, you should not participate in this program at this time.
Additionally, please ask yourself the following safety screening questions before deciding to participate. If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” you should not participate in this program at this time.
Can you stand unassisted while holding a 5-pound power tool with both hands for 3 hours?
Can you fully understand and follow directions? (This workshop is conducted in English.)
Are you complete the project independently?
Can you hold the trigger firmly on a vibrating power tool for 3 hours?
Do you have the upper body strength to apply pressure with a handheld power tool and maintain your balance in the event of kickback?
Can you carefully handle a handheld power tool with a fast-moving needle?
Registration through Eventbrite is required. Please register for only one workshop. If you've already completed a workshop and wish to continue tufting, you may do so during makerspace open studio hours.
