I would like to invite you to begin your own apprenticeship to The Work That Reconnects. This open-sourced resource by Joanna Macy and Molly Young Brown invites imagination and community connection to the Earth, More-Than-Human community and other humans as remedies to our current social, environmental, personal and spiritual upheaval for liberation and healing. I use it to for myself, to support my individual and group spiritual companions.

I have been apprenticing to this process of connecting to the Earth, gratitude, grief, imagination and social change for three years. The Work That Reconnects Spiral starts with gratitude and moves through and with suffering to liberation and our work in the world.

This workshop will be an introduction to the Spiral, practice with The Three Stories of Our Times and Breathing Through. It will include enrichment resources and an invitation to further practice through formation of a community circle that will meet regularly on Zoom to support each other in learning this practice.

Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 1:30-3PM Eastern on Zoom.

A recording and handouts will be sent to all registrants.

What you will need:

Technology requirement:

Zoom application installed on smartphone or laptop.

Materials:

Notebook, writing utensils for journaling, drawing and reflection prompts. A cup of tea and setting where you feel comfortable and will be undisturbed for 30 minutes.

H i! I'm Justin Ferko (he/they). I'll be your guide in this Earth-connection practice. I identify as a queer Earth poet. I love helping folks connect to their own wisdom paths.

My background includes guiding Forest Bathing walks in-person and online, training folks in the art of Spiritual Companionship with Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development and The Spiritual Life Center of West Hartford, CT. I also bring two years of supervising students in the Interspiritual Counseling and Companioning program with One Spirit Seminary, completion of my spiritual direction training and deepening year with Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development, five years as a professional Palliative Care and Trauma chaplain and graduate degrees in theology (MTS) and teaching (EdM TESOL).
