About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Dive into the heart of long-form improv with this beginner-friendly introduction to the Harold—one of the most influential and enduring improv structures. The Harold is a dynamic, multi-scene format that weaves together recurring themes, characters, and ideas through a series of interconnected scenes and group games. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basic beats of the Harold: opening, first beats, group games, second beats, and third beats. We’ll explore how to find and heighten the “game” of the scene, make strong connections, and create an engaging flow that keeps both performers and audience hooked. Perfect for improvisers ready to expand their long-form skills, this class breaks down the Harold into accessible steps with plenty of play and experimentation. Get ready to unlock a powerful structure that encourages bold choices, ensemble teamwork, and storytelling magic.

Daytime workshops at the Big Couch Binge offer something for improvisers of all levels—from those just starting out to seasoned performers looking to deepen their skills. This particular workshop does require intermediate improv knowledge, especially experience using devices.

And, don't forget about our multi-workshop passes that provide a discount when taking more than one workshop on either day. See our full event page for workshop bundles.
