Description
"Introduction to Shainin and Red X Problem Solving"
Overview: We will look at another very successful problem-solving approach that has been used in manufacturing and design for the last 70 years. Most problem-solving methodologies are X to Y, trying to understand all the variable that affect a change in output.
The Shainin Red X approach is Y to X, by talking to the parts and looking at the change in output to identify the biggest input contributor to that change, the Red X. It is a contrast-based approach. We will also look briefly at several different strategies and tools that Shainin has developed over the years.
About the Presenter: Serge Guillot worked at General Motors for 25 years in varying capacities (engineer, quality, manufacturing, problem solving) that were instrumental in installing quality systems at several GM plants, before leaving GM to become the Quality Manager at Fisher Barton, a stamping and assembly plant. For the past 10 years, he has been working at Shainin as a Senior Engineer, solving problems worldwide and teaching courses for numerous clients in various industries.
