Hands-on tutorials to help build skills required in Precision Child Health, data science and bioinformatics. The training is prepared for staff and trainees at SickKids and beyond by the Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM).

This is a hybrid event offered both in-person and online.

Topics include:

  • Data Types and Variables
  • Operators and Functions
  • Statements
  • Scripting in Python
  • Managing and Importing Libraries

This 1-hour tutorial will cover the bare essentials of programming in Python. We will cover the building blocks of any Python code and use them to create simple scripts. Finally, the presentation will provide some suggestions around managing multiple Python environments and using third-party libraries. Participants are expected to have a Python installation prepared for the tutorial if they wish to practice alongside the presenter.
