About this event

Join Linda and Sharon, plant based chefs, nutritionists, food educators and teachers for the charity 'Made in Hackney' as they lead you through a series of workshops that focus on the basics of plant based cooking.

These workshops are ideal for beginners, and those with some knowledge who want to learn how to include more plant based options into their lives.Each workshop is designed to be a hands-on immersive experience, where we cook and eat together.

What you will learn

14 May 2025 - Benefits of Fruits

Not just the sweet variety! Think jackfruit, avocados, tomatoes, and cucumbers. This session will focus on how to create dishes using these ingredients, as well as simple smoothies, that you can include at any time of the day.

28 May 2025 - Benefits of Pulses

Think chickpeas, at least 3 ways! A good source of protein and complex carbs. You will also learn about the benefits of other pulses and legumes, and how to incorporate them into everyday dishes.

4 June 2025 - Benefits of Seeds

You will learn the different benefits of sprouting, soaking and grinding seeds to increase digestion and absorption for maximum benefit. As well as the versatility of seeds such as chia and flax seeds.

11 June 2025 - Benefits of Grains

,Grains are more than just wheat and rice. In this workshop, you will learn how to use grain alternatives such as quinoa, buckwheat and millet, as replacements for rice and breakfast alternatives to porridge and much more.

18 June 2025 - Treats!

During this last workshop, we focus on treats that are not just good for you, but taste good too.


Workshop Format

  • Cooking in pairs or small groups (3-4 people)
  • Interactive, hands-on experience
  • Recipe handouts that include substitutions and creative variations
