In this program, Brian Wert will present an overview of NCDOT's Funding and Prioritization of Transportation Projects. With over $30 Billion of projects, the NC State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) is a 10-year planning document that details which projects the State intends to build as well as when those projects are expected to be delivered. Guiding the development of the STIP is the Strategic Transportation Investments (STI) legislation which governs the disbursement of funds across the State as well as requires NCDOT to utilize a prioritization process for selecting the best transportation projects.
The presentation will walk viewers through the basics of transportation funding, The STIP, the NCDOT Prioritization Process, and will culminate in an overview of the Draft 2026-2035 NCDOT STIP, which is currently scheduled for adoption by the NCDOT Board of Transportation in July of this year. This presentation should help viewers understand where funds come from to support transportation projects, how to find which transportation projects NCDOT will be working on, and how NCDOT chooses projects.
