Why won’t my patients just do what I tell them to do? For most of us, the challenge to engage and activate patients/families in their own health is both real and real important.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based communication style that focuses on language, both the clinician’s and that of the patient. The strategies of MI are collaborative and evocative and an overall goal is that change arises from within, rather than being imposed from without.

Join us for a highly interactive workshop to build your skills in motivational interviewing and effective behavior change. You will be guided through a variety of learning activities designed to explore and practice new ways of transforming your conversations with patients and families. Learning activities will include live demonstrations, video examples, 'real-plays', case studies, small group exercises, and participant practice with feedback.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This program is designed for health care practitioners who spend time encouraging patients and their families to consider choices and changes that lead to better health. The targeted audience includes Physicians, Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, Physical Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Respiratory Care Practitioners, Exercise Physiologists, Diabetes Educators, Patient Navigators, Care Coordinators, Case Managers, Care Transitions Teams, Home Health/Visiting Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Medical Fitness Professionals, and other allied health professionals.

This workshop is designed for those with no prior experience or minimal to moderate exposure to Motivational Interviewing. The course is intended to provide an introductory framework to develop, and further strengthen, basic skills.

DAILY SCHEDULE - FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 28-29, 2017

Registration, coffee/tea, snacks: 8:00 – 8:30 a.m.
Program: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Lunch breaks: 1 ¼ hours each day
Morning and afternoon breaks

What's the refund policy?

Cancellations: prior to April 8, 2017 will receive a refund minus a $100.00 processing fee and cancellations after April 8, 2017 are non-refundable. Your ticket/registration is transferable to another participant/attendee of your choosing at no additional cost.
