Program Description: This program will introduce participants to the evidence-based practices of Meditation, Mindfulness and Imagery that may assist with self care and enhance the care of their patients. Through lecture, experiential activities and discussion they will identify the stress and relaxation response, types of meditation and imagery as well as indications for use in acute, outpatient and self-care.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the indications and contra indications for use of meditation, mindfulness and imagery in the acute care and outpatient settings
- List two evidence-based research studies supporting practice in mindfulness, meditation or imagery
- Experience the role of the practitioner and recipient of an imagery session
