About this event

Join us for an inside look of Kumiko the Japanese art form of building decorative screens. In this class we’ll dive into the history of Kumiko and its origins. Look at the various styles, tools and jigs used by the masters themselves all while building two decorative 5”x 5” screen tiles in both Asanoha and Izutsu style.

**Disclaimer In this class we’ll be working with very sharp instruments including chisels, Japanese pull saw, table and miter saws.**

Are there any age restrictions for this class?

This class requires the use of power tools, which requires the attendee to be 14 years or older. Attendees below 18 years must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian throughout the entire class. If a parent or legal guardian is required to attend, only 1 ticket is required.

Do I need any safety equipment or special clothing?

Safety glasses or face shields, hearing protection, gloves, and dust respirators will be provided free of charge as needed. No loose clothing should be worn, long sleeves should be rolled up, long hair should be tied back. No open-toed shoes can be worn during classes.
