HICS is an incident management system based on principles of the Incident Command System (ICS), which assists hospitals and healthcare organizations in improving their emergency management planning, response, and recovery capabilities for unplanned and planned events.

Class time will include a full introduction to HICS principles and a tabletop exercise to practice HICS concepts. Completing these courses will help to prepare you to take the online tests in order to receive a FEMA Certificate of Completion.

Registration check-in is 7:30 am - 8:00 am. Beverages and Lunch are not provided, so please plan on bringing your own. Vending machines are available.

Planning, training, and exercise activities are determined through regional workgroups, grant guidance and the needs or gaps identified by Coalition members. The training is planned through regional workgroups and presented in an annual conference, and ongoing classes and workshops. Topics address all areas of study and planning that will enhance and improve the preparedness and sustainability of Minnesota’s emergency management with regard to healthcare services.
