Introduction to functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS)
As the use of functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, Soterix Medical is partnering with Artinis to host a one-day introductory course on fNIRS that is open to anyone interested in Near Infrared Spectroscopy, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals. All fNIRS enthusiasts are welcome!
Location & Schedule
This introduction course will be held on Friday, 10th of October 2025 from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM at the Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square.
Program
The fNIRS introduction course will be divided into two different parts:
Theoretical background — learn more about:
The theory and technology behind fNIRS
fNIRS applications in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, and sports science
Applicable experimental setup and analysis methods
Practical hands-on session: Put the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice and perform different (f)NIRS experiments from set-up to simple data analysis
Practical Information
- Breakfast, Lunch, and afternoon coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided.
- This (f)NIRS introduction course has limited spots for 20 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.
- Please let us know if you are registered but are not able to join anymore, so we can allow another participant to join.

What do I need to prepare?
Having a laptop and notebook will make the introduction course a better experience. Of course, if you have any questions, it helps to write them down beforehand so they become better defined and you won’t forget to ask them.
