Have you wanted to get into fly fishing but didn’t know where to start? Join the staff at the Pequest Natural Resource Education Center for a full-day Fly Fishing Bootcamp. We will cover everything from regulations, gear, casting, where to go, and much more. The class will finish on our education pond where you get to put what you learn into action. All equipment will be provided, or you can bring your own. Please bring lunch and water.

Age Limits

For ages 12 years and above. Participants 16 years and younger must be accompanied by a participating and ticket holding adult.

Prerequisites

All participants 16 and older are required to have a NJ fishing license and trout stamp. They can be purchased online and printed from home through our license page.

Cost

$30.00 payable on the day of the program. Credit card and checks made out to "State of NJ" are acceptable forms of payment.

Arrival

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. We will start promptly. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will not be permitted into the program.

Cancellations

NJ DEP Fish & Wildlife programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Programs at Pequest Natural Resource Education Center are RAIN or SHINE, but in the event of severe weather, classes may be canceled. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified by email as soon as possible.

Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend so your space can be opened to the people on the waitlist. You can cancel through Eventbrite or email us at pequest@dep.nj.gov.

Is the event rain or shine?

Yes, the event is held rain or shine. Pequest may cancel in the event of severe weather.

Can I bring my own equipment?

Yes. You can use your own equipment or borrow ours.

Do I need a license?

Yes. The class will conclude with some time spent fishing in the Pequest Education Pond for trout.

I can't pay online. How do I pay?

You will need to pay on the day of the event. You can pay with credit or debit or a check made out to "State of NJ".

Can I run out and buy lunch?

No. Please bring lunch and water.
