*All Skill Levels - Range# 2

*In Order to Participate in the Class: Your pump or semi-auto shotgun in 12, 20 or 28 gauge must be "mechanically sound and in good working order”. This means you must be able to load, unload and fire your shotgun without any major malfunctions or safety concerns (*please read restrictions and requirements below).

*Total Fees:

-Club Members Registered for NYS Article 35 (March 21, June 28 or July 25th):

Free Bonus Class, $0.00

-Club Members Not Registered for NYS Article 35: $50.00 total w/ $25.00 duet at registration and $25.00 paid on day of class, by cash, check or money order

-Non Members: $100.00 total w/ $25.00 duet at registration and $75.00 paid on day of class, by cash, check or money order

*Registration for this class closes on Tuesday, October 30th at 1:00 pm

*We meet 8:30 am sharp on range# 2 for paperwork & safety briefing, be on time. Lunch break between 12pm - 1pm, total range time: 5 hours

*A Certificate will be issued upon successful completion of this class

*Class Description*

Class is designed for students of all skill levels, either as an introduction on how to safely manipulate a shotgun or just to sharpen the skills of an advanced shooter.

Upon completion of this class, students will develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to use a shotgun with confidence and efficiently or be ready for advanced training.

This class will introduce you to the following:

-Safe handling and storage

-Ammunition selection

-Clearing malfunctions

-Rapid loading and unloading

-Birdshot, buckshot patterns and slug zeroing

-Understanding the shotgun’s range

-Ammo penetration capabilities

-Marksmanship fundamentals

-Shotgun manipulation

-Different shooting techniques

-On the move and static shooting drills

-Shooting from different distances

-Multiple shots

-Multiple targets technique

-Cleaning and maintenance

*RESTRICTIONS*

-When you arrive: Your shotgun must be "unloaded" and in a gun bag. If you don't have a gun bag, your gun's action must be open and pointed in a safe direction at all times, specialy as you walk into the range.

-Do not: Manipulate or remove fyour shogun rom the gun bag, close the action or load your shotgun within the designated "safety area". As you arrive, we’ll inform where to place your gun and get you loaded for the class.

-Ammo type: No homemade reloads will be allowed.

*REQUIREMENTS*

*Mechanically Sound - pump or semi-auto shotgun in 12, 20 or 28 gauge

-You must demonstrate: All aspects of firearm safety, good muzzle management and trigger discipline.

-You must present: A valid pistol license. If you don't have one, a current driver’s license or any valid U.S. Government issued photo Id.

-Clean Background: As a condition to attend this class, if you don't have a valid pistol license, you must be able to legally possess a firearm.

-You must be: 21 or older to participate.

-Ammo holder: Shotgun side saddle, shell holder, ammo pouch or extra-large pockets are

highly recommended.

-Ammo Count: Birdshot 150 rounds (# 7 1/2 or # 8), Buckshot 25 rounds and Slug 25 rounds of any factory manufactured ammo .

-Ear Protection: a must, electronic ear protection is highly recommended, earmuffs or plugs

-Eye Protection: a must, wraparound eye wear w/ polycarbonate lenses are highly recommended or non-shattering prescription glasses

-Sling: Highly recommended.

-Hat w/ Brim: Highly recommended for extra eye protection.

-Footwear: Suitable for rapid movement and turning.

-Knee Pads: Recommended.

-Shooting Gloves: Recommended.

-Clothing: Suitable for any weather, pants w/ large cargo pockets or long sleeve t-shirt/shirt are recommended, please no low-cut neck lines and no shorts.

*WEATHER*

Please check the weather, dress accordingly, you'll be notified of a cancellation due to “severe” weather conditions.

*FOOD AND BEVERAGES*

Bring your own food lunch, snack(s) and beverage(s) or purchase near-by during our lunch break.

*Refunds/Credits*

A full refund will be issued to you, if a class is cancelled by DCPA, cancelled due to severe weather conditions or prior to 48 hours.

No refund will be granted for cancellations made by you 48 hrs or after from the date of this class. In this case, a credit towards your next class can be issued if you contact us within 30 days of the original date and book your next class or event. No credits will be granted afterwards.
